School Murals

Towards the end of term my school runs an activities week for students in years 7, 8 and 9. Teachers offer fun activities based on a particular theme and students opt for the ones they wish to do.

This year's theme was 'Freedom' to tie in with the 200 year anniversary of the abolition of slavery. However, we were allowed to interpret the theme as 'creatively' as we wanted. I chose to run a mural project where students would create large paintings for a grade 2 listed Victorian Walled garden. As we have pigs and chickens in the garden I thought that our link to freedom could be freedom food and organic, free range produce (tenuous eh!).

The work that was produced was a series of 4ft square murals on wodden boards, inspired by scenes of nature. The murals are varnished and will be permanantly attached to the walls for the pigs to anjoy. they are after all about the third most intelligent species beleive it or not!

To enjoy the entire collection of murals see my Flickr site. See if you can guess which one is mine!
